Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on a promise to serve not only one another but the greater community as well. This commitment reflects a philosophy of friendship, concern, and usefulness in the world.

Commitment to
Dignity

Whether a member chooses to serve as a chapter officer, or represent AOII as a member of other campus or community organizations, there are numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills as a member of AOII.

Commitment to
Scholarship

AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable.

Commitment to
College Loyalty

From collegiate years on through alumnae involvement, the reason AOIIs continue service is the joy of spending time together and sharing the insights learned from the relationships we build and sustain.

Letter from the President

Welcome to the Gamma Chi chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi! My name is Julia Belmonte and I am honoured to be the 2017-2018 Chapter President. I was initiated back in Fall 2016, and have since then had so many incredible experiences and formed wonderful bonds of friendship and sisterhood.

Alpha Omicron Pi was founded in 1897 at Barnard College, making AOII the oldest international organization on Carleton's campus. Being a member of an international women's organization means so much more than just being a member of our 80 person chapter on one campus. Alpha Omicron Pi has 143 active collegiate chapters and over 151,000 collegiate members in North America, making it possible to find Sisters anywhere around the world. In it's 121st year of existence, AOII has shaped thousands of intelligent, ambitious and well-rounded women.

This year, Gamma Chi Chapter is celebrating its 26th year of being established at Carleton University. We are so proud of the diverse, friendly, funny, and inspiring women that we initiate into our chapter. To us, sisterhood and our sorority experience is so much more than our 4 undergraduate years. Sisterhood is proudly cheering from the audience when our senior Sisters walk across the graduation stage. Sisterhood is running into the arms of an international Sister who you've never met, but you saw her wearing AOII letters at an airport. Sisterhood is trying to hold back tears of joy while watching your Sister walk down the aisle (even though you swear you never cry at weddings!). Sisterhood is Alpha Omicron Pi.

Whether you're looking for your home away from home, a squad of ambitious women to succeed with, or a community of hilarious women to laugh at your jokes, we would love to get to know you!

Alpha Love and Mine,

Julia Belmonte
